Please take a minute to say "hi" and sign my guestbook.
The year I turned 7, I decided to help the dogs and cats at Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center in Huntington by asking my friends and family to donate gifts to the shelter instead of getting me birthday gifts. It was such a great feeling seeing all the gifts for the animals at my party. My friends and family were so generous that our SUV was filled with all kinds of pet supplies to bring to the shelter. For both my 8th and 9th birthday I again asked for gifts for the dogs and cats at the shelter. And guess what? Each year we collected even more!! So for my 10th birthday I am collecting donations again. Please consider helping!
How You Can Help
My Birthday is in March, but I am starting to collect donations now. I have included the shelter's wish list.
Helping doesn't always have to cost money. Are you planning to buy new towels and/or blankets? The shelter would love to take your old ones!
If you don't feel like shopping for the animals, I will be happy to do it for you! For the last two years, friends and family have sent me gift cards to both Petco and Petsmart for my Birthday. I love shopping for the dogs and cats at the shelter!
Wish List For Little Shelter
Little Shelter relies heavily (and really appreciates) your donations. From the puppy snuggling in that warm throw to the cat in a favorite pet bed, your donations help animals feel a little more comfortable and at home here during their stay. While our first goal is to get these animals placed in loving new homes as quickly as possible, the reality is that this process can sometimes take a significant amount of time. Having these little pet "luxuries" will help these animals during this transition period:
Cat & dog beds
Cat trees and scratching posts
Unopened cat & dog toys
Unopened cat & dog food (dry, wet, we'll take it all! )
Creamy peanut butter, cream cheese, and american cheese
Thermacare heat wraps
Spill-less water bowls
New rawhides, pigs ears, bones · you get the idea *** WE ARE RUNNING VERY LOW ON THESE ITEMS***
Collars & leashes
Large metal pet feeding bowls
Large or Small washable blankets, comforters (since we don't have commercial washing machines here), throws, towels - even small washable throw rugs can come in very handy ***WE ARE RUNNING VERY LOW ON THESE ITEMS***
Small single-seat sofas, futons or recliners - wouldn't it be special to come to the Little Shelter and see a relaxed terrier mix enjoying your old recliner!
When I grow up I want to be a veterinarian. But until then, there are so many things I love doing. I enjoy school, playing with my Monster High Dolls, chess and going to karate. I just earned my orange belt ! I also love acting, especially voice overs. I am the voice of a squirrel in a new animated series, airing in April. I am having the best time doing the show! Click here to see some of the fun things I have done!
This is my dog Daphne and me. She is a beautiful standard poodle and a rescue! Proof that you can get any type of dog from a shelter or rescue group.
Donation Day 2013
Today I went to the shelter with all the donations! Thank you to all my friends and family for being so generous!! Arleen, the Donation Coordinator was there to greet me and my family and she gave me a Little Shelter t-shirt and hat! I was so excited that I put them both on right away!
Here are some photos from Donation Day! Because of the generosity of friends and family I had a carload of donations! Thank you all for your support, it means so much to me and the animals at the shelter! Thank you to Arleen, the Donation Coordinator at Little Shelter Animal Rescue and Adoption Center for the tour, hat and t-shirt! I will wear them proudly!
Here I am with the donations from both my 7th and 8th Birthday! WOW! So grateful to all my friends and family for being so generous!
After collecting the donations from my 8th birthday, we packed them into our SUV and headed to the shelter! I met Arleen, the Donations Coordinator and then we unloaded the donations. I even got to help bring them around to the different areas of the shelter. All the workers and volunteers were so excited to see such great things coming to the dogs and cats!
